Wednesday, June 20 reports

Resident states that there have been items taken from her apartment recently and wanted to talk to officers about it. The complainant stated that this morning she noticed her bathroom wastebasket was missing.  The complainant stated that she left her apartment Sunday to go to her granddaughter’s house. The complainant stated that she believes people enter her apartment when she is gone. She also stated that she had placed an envelope with $5 under the tablecloth of her dining set and it is missing. A pillow in the living room had pen marks on both sides. She stated that she has also had towels and washcloths missing. The complainant has resided at the apartments for the past 10 years. Officer checked the windows and doors for signs of entry and all windows and doors appear normal. The complainant has metal bars in the windowsills and sliding door tracks to keep persons out. While there, the apartment manager arrived on scene. The manager was advised of a light problem in the laundry room and told of the missing items. The officer contacted the granddaughter, and she stated that she does not believe that anyone was in her grandmother’s apartment. The granddaughter stated that she has power of attorney over her grandmother and is responsible for taking her to doctors’ appointments. She advised that she will be taking her to the doctor soon and will address this matter with them. The granddaughter will follow up with the complainant. No further police action at this time.

Male in lobby for report his heroin addicted son stole his daughter’s car this morning. The vehicle mentioned was taken from a driveway in Walton Hills earlier in the day. The complainant is now reporting items taken from his rental property within the past week. Officer spoke with the renter of the home. She stated that the male did contact her and stated he was going to clean out the garage per his father. She stated he did show up on Best on the Wednesday and Thursday and removed items. The complainant stated he does not have a list of items taken from the garage. He also stated he has not given permission to the suspect to remove anything from the garage. At this time he wanted the information on file. He will attempt to itemize the things that had been taken. The renter stated the suspect arrived on Wednesday with an older man in a dark van. On Thursday he was with a younger man. Later that week the complainant said he did not wish to pursue charges. The majority of the items taken were from his home in Walton Hills and he has filed felony charges with them. No further action to be taken. The department was thanked.

Location: Lamson Avenue
Officers were flagged down by a male reporting his bicycle had just been stolen by an unknown male. The male was at the skate park when he allowed another male to ride his bike. The male then left the area and was last seen southbound on Broadway Avenue. The bike is black and green. Several people at the skate park are familiar with the male and the complainant stated he would call back if he gets any more information on the male.


Thursday, June 21 reports

Location: Rockside Road (Woodside Village)
Complainant called to report that person(s) unknown entered her father’s room and took $45 from his wallet sometime in the past two days. The complainant stated that approximately three weeks ago, a large envelope was taken from a dresser drawer in his bedroom, which contained approximately $150. This incident was reported to the staff, but not the police department. The total amount of theft is approximately $195. The complainant was given some options on how to safeguard the apartment. Management is aware of the theft and advised the complainant that there have been other thefts reported to them recently.

Female in the police department lobby to file a report for theft from her vehicle. Officers spoke to the complainant who stated that unknown persons entered her unlocked vehicle. No damage was done to the vehicle, but a Gucci bag, Gucci sunglasses and a pair of black work shoes were taken. Complainant wanted a report on file for insurance.


Friday, June 22 reports

Location: Rockside Road (Kia of Bedford)
Caller stated her son’s car was at Kia for service. She stated Kia noticed the rear license plate missing. Caller stated she is unsure if it is lost or stolen. Caller is near the service entrance. Complainant advised to follow up with Solon Police Department. It was determined the plate went missing while the car was in their city.

Officers spoke to the complainant who states a customer of the dealership has not returned a license plate that they let them use. The complainant also states that they have tried numerous ways to contact this person but have been unsuccessful. Also, they state that they do not want to press charges, they just want the license plate back. Complainant states that the employee who is handling the case and that has all the information will not be back to work until Monday. Dealership was advised to contact Bureau of Motor Vehicles and report the lost dealer plate. No other police action at this time.

Sunday, June 24 reports

Location: Northfield Road (Lounge 228)
A female stated that she was assaulted by 10 people, and the bartender was putting her out, and the people that beat her up are still outside. The female stated police were pulling up and she hung up with dispatch. Unknown if any weapons. Caller states another female known to her, hit her in the head and yanked her hair addition off while she was sitting at the bar. Caller states the female left before officers arrived, however she intends to collect that other female’s information and return to the station to file charges later. Complainant returned and completed a statement form as well as provided suspect information. Officers spoke with the security staff, who witnessed the event, but they stated that it had not been caught on camera. The complainant knew the suspect’s name and an old address, and was able to positively identify a current BMV photograph. Information was forwarded to the prosecutor for a ruling.

Location: Broadway Avenue
Caller states her daughter’s house was broken into last night. House has trash strewn about. The neighbor called her and let her know. Her daughter is in a nursing home so she is unable to be there. Officers checked/cleared the house and there were no signs of forced entry. Also, there were no signs of any property that was taken. The house was in very poor condition and officers could not determine if there was trash that was thrown about from a breaking and entering. The caller stayed behind after officers left to try and secure the house to the best of her abilities.

Monday, June 25 reports

Female resident requesting to report a theft of a milk can with 20 flags, a gazing ball and a plant from her front porch. Sometime overnight person(s) unknown took the items above from the caller’s porch. There are no witnesses. The milk can was located in the backyard.


Wednesday, June 27 reports

Missing vehicle from lot. Have not seen it for the past month. It’s a brown Chevrolet. Officers advised of pending call. Vehicle entered into leads.

Officers spoke to the complainant who stated on June 2, she ordered make-up and a air gun that cost $37.94 from a company. The package was delivered to the address instead of her own. The complainant knocked on the door to question the homeowner if she received her property but there was no one at the residence at the time to answer her question. She then spoke with the company after the wrong delivery and they sent out the same products on June 23, which she still has yet to receive. Officers advised the female to follow up with USPS for the wrong deliveries. Also, officers will attempt to check the first house address to see if the products she ordered are there.

Six lost or stolen plates. All dealer tags. Officer spoke with the employee on the phone. Dispatch updated to enter the plates

Code: Breaking and Entering
Location: Broadway Avenue
Complainant called to report that sometime in the last five days person(s) unknown attempted to force entry in the vacant property. The north main door had pry marks below the doorknob, damaging the tin molding around the doorframe. The complainant will trim the bush by the main door and requested special attention for the next few nights. Officer checked the other doors and window for damage. Everything else checked OK.

Theft of items from various victim’s bags. Mostly clothing items. Occurred around 4:00 p.m. at the pool. Meet with caller on the east side of Recreation Center by baseball fields. Ended up being a misunderstanding.

Monday, July 2 reports

Location: Turney Drive
Cleveland advised they were involved in a pursuit and a foot chase in their city with this vehicle. They contacted the owner, who advised it was stolen while she was staying with a friend on Turney in Bedford. Cleveland does have suspects in custody. Officer located another vehicle in the area with the trunk open. Vehicle checks OK. Trunk was closed. Cleveland was advised we are doing stolen auto report. Cleveland Police Department was advised we were not entering this into leads as it was recovered before it was discovered stolen.

Location: Jackson Boulevard
Female tried to open the caller’s garage door. They didn’t gain entry but resident would like a report. Unknown direction of travel. Officers just did a vacation check at that time and the mechanics were also in the area at the time but no one saw this happen. The complainant said today she was inside the home cleaning when she heard someone attempting to open the front door. When she looked outside she observed a female, 8-9 years old wearing a red shirt. By the time she answered the door, the female had left the area. The complainant said she has been going to the house everyday to clean it. She was advised to call if the female returns or anyone else attempts to gain entry to the home.

Homeowner arrived home to find forced entry into her home. Window screen was cut and two televisions and a wallet were stolen. Gun clip was also taken. Gun was not taken, but the clip was. Caller will be on the side of the complex. Female has been inside residence already.

Location: Logan Street
Caller is stating someone stole her gazebo from her yard and is now selling it at a yard sale. Caller is at the address and tried to speak to the homeowner but they are now going in the home. Caller is sitting in her vehicle in front of the home. Complainant states that a property she owns was burglarized and that several items were taken. Specifically an outdoor lawn gazebo and a small end table with a glass top were taken. While on scene she showed officers photographs of these items in the home. She states that she filed a police report with Cleveland Police Department in May. A Cleveland dispatcher was able to confirm that a burglary had been reported at that address by the complainant. A gazebo and an end table that appeared to be identical to the ones in the pictures were present at a yard sale at Logan Street in Bedford. Two men were selling the items. One left upon officers arrival and could not be located. Officers spoke to the other male, who claimed he bought the items from some people on Miles Road approximately two weeks ago, but did not know who they were or what address he had gotten them from. The complainant was instructed to email the pictures she had of the gazebo and end table along with any additional information she may be able to provide. The detective bureau will do a follow-up during the day to attempt to get copies of the report(s) regarding the burglaries at the complainant’s address.

The caller stated her ex-husband took her car and used her credit card while she was sleeping. An officer responded and spoke with the caller who stated she is in the process of divorcing the listed male. She stated she went to sleep at 6 p.m. and awoke at 11 p.m. and found that her husband had taken her car. The caller stated he has used the car previously, but has never taken it without permission. The caller was advised her husband has legal access to use the vehicle. She was advised of her options.
