Tuesday, July 10 reports

Caller stated a dog has been barking for last 45 minutes on her street. Officers checked the area — all quiet upon arrival.

White car parked in the fire lane with no license plates. He had flashlights. Situation cleared.

Location: Columbus Road
Caller advised across from library there is a female banging on one of the house’s doors. She is screaming, sounds like she’s breaking windows.

Location: High Street
Female just assaulted with a knife. Male suspect is in the garage with the garage door shut. Male is bipolar, but not medicated. Caller stated that the suspect didn’t make contact with the knife, but he threatened her with it. The knife is now back in the drawer. Caller said the dispute was verbal. Complainant was advised on the eviction process.

Location: Center Road (Burger King)
Two males and one female fighting in lot. No weapons seen. Caller stated she saw female hit one of the males. All parties involved denied any physical altercation took place. They claim it was a verbal argument between a boyfriend and girlfriend. The boyfriend gathered his belongings and both parties went their separate ways.

Location: Columbus Road (Southeast Library)
Male punched worker in the face in the library. Fight was by the computers. Male is in the parking lot now. He is 270-300 pounds and approximately 6-feet tall. Went by car on Columbus Road eastbound towards Northfield Road. Victim was a patron of the library. Officer requesting incident report for assault.

Location: Broadway Avenue 
Female is making a scene at a car store. Female is threatening to destroy and take things because her car is “messed up.” Unknown if there are any weapons. Staff is handling the situation.

Location: Columbus Road
Complainant would like to file a report about a stolen bike. Officers responded and spoke to the complainant. He stated his son was at the library for about 10-to-15 minutes. He left his bike outside, unsecured, and when he exited the building, the bike was gone. Officers spoke to witnesses on the scene and reviewed camera footage. A suspect was developed and the bike appeared back at the library later. It was returned to its owner.

Location: Southview Road
Caller advised there is a group of juveniles outside of the home attempting to fight her son. Unknown if there are any weapons. Squad requested for epileptic female that fainted. Officers responded to a call of a disturbance. Upon arrival two groups of juveniles and their parents were arguing. Both had different sides as to what happened. All parties were sent on their ways and were told to stay away from each other. They were told that if they wished to pursue charges, to come to the station to fill out statements. One of the juvenile females ended up having a seizure while on scene. She was transported to Bedford Medical Center. Later, one of the females involved came on station to fill out a statement. Female came on station with photos of injuries to her son. She was advised to email them to the department. Witness statements collected from the other portion of the incident. Information was forwarded to the prosecutor. Prosecutor stated that he is unable to determine the primary aggressor and no charges are to be filed.

Female reporting her 31-year-old son is at the residence ringing her doorbell and will not leave. He does not live there. Male is not known to carry weapons. He is at the backdoor. Male is Schizophrenic and has been drinking. He was taken to the jail.

SUV in front of the residence with multiple people in it. Doors opened and a lot of people standing around it. Officers checked the suspected vehicle. No one in the area and the vehicle checks OK.

Caller advised she needs a report for assault of her daughter and grandchild that occurred today.

A female is trying to break into caller’s house. Now knocking on the door. She is standing in the doorway. Caller hung up. Dispatch attempted to call back and he would not answer. Warrant for Mayfield Heights was confirmed. Transporting female to I-271 Marriott to be turned over to Mayfield Heights on her warrant.

Female reporting a white vehicle is parked on the wrong side of the street with all the doors open. She believes it is occupied. Vehicle was leaving on arrival of officers. Checks out OK.

Wednesday, July 11 reports

Time: 9:42 a.m.

Location: Southwick Drive
Complainant said car was broken into. Person(s) unknown made entry into her unlocked vehicle and went through her belongings. The female stated the only thing that was taken was a pair of $10 earrings. The caller states that she thinks it may have been kids that live in the area. Also, the female states that this is the second time that this kind of situation has happened to her.

The complainant called to report a suspicious phone call to her landline phone today. She reported receiving a voicemail call from an unknown number. The caller identified himself as an IRS employee and advised the IRS was filing a lawsuit for failure to pay taxes. She recognized from police notifications she should not respond to these type of calls, but should report the calls to the police department. She denied any contact with the caller, and was instructed to erase the call from her phone and to continue to report to occurrences to the department. She was advised a report would be on file.

Property owner states there’s a U-Haul truck on the property that doesn’t belong to any of the tenants and no one knows where it came from. Complainant was advised to call back in a few days if it is not moved.

Location: Broadway Avenue (Los Gallos)
Employee states there’s a customer that is refusing to pay her bill. She’s in the back corner of the restaurant.

Time: 7:07 p.m.
Code: Robbery
Location: Archer Road
Complainant said three men wearing no shirts just stole a bicycle from a juvenile and then took off westbound toward Northfield Road. One of the males had a gun and showed it to the juvenile victim. The dispatcher attempted to call the reporting party back to get further information but the line was disconnected. Officer out with the reporting party. The bike was red Huffy mountain bike. Officer advising an all-black revolver in waistband of the male with green shorts. Officer out with juveniles with another bike. Doesn’t appear to match suspect description. Other officer remaining on scene with victim until Mom arrives. Juvenile turned over to his mother.

Location: Mayville Avenue (Stafford Park)
Caller states that they are having active shooting. Caller states that a youth is shot. Garfield Heights Police Department mutual aid contacted. CPR being done by police. Bedford Heights police is sending two units. Bedford sending units. Oakwood also responding. Per Maple Heights – two male suspects possibly cutting through the rear of school towards Center Road. Per additional 911 caller — the suspect was standing by a silver vehicle parked near the gate when he started shooting. The female occupants in the silver vehicle know the shooter and the victim per the complainant. Two in custody at Mayville Avenue. No weapons located on either male. Female called 911 and stated she got a call that her nephew was being jumped at the park. Official on site to view video footage. Detective on scene. Time of death 9:24 p.m. Squad requested for the girlfriend of the victim at home. She is unconscious but breathing. Second auxiliary arrived at the middle school. Officer reporting a casing located in front of the school.

Thursday, July 12 reports

Location: Turney Road
Officers spoke to the complainant in the lobby who stated sometime between Wednesday and today, person(s) unknown went into his unlocked car and stole a Green Crown Royal bag. The males states the bag contained an unknown amount of loose change, a driver’s license, CCW license and an ATM card. The male states that he checked with his bank and no transactions have been made and he canceled the card. The males states that no forced entry or damage was done to his car and he just wants to make a report of the incident.

Male did some work for the resident. When he arrived to get paid, resident struck him and shoved him down stairs stating he will not pay.

Location: Rockside Road
Male reporting his female friend will not leave. No one has been drinking. No weapons. They are just arguing. Female wearing all black and is now walking toward Warrensville Center Road. Female got into the car with the male and he will be returning her back to University Heights. The complainant loaded up the female’s belongings into his truck and transported her to her residence. The female made comments about returning to damage the complainant’s windows. He was advised that the statements would be noted in this report.

The male that broke into her neighbor’s house on June 7 just showed up at her house sitting on her front steps. He just now walked down Union Street toward Northfield Road. The address he had broken into was a vacant home. Caller would like to see officers when we are done. Officers checked the area. The complainant stated he was just sitting in front of her residence and appeared intoxicated. The male was not observed around any houses. She was advised to call back if he returned.

Pick-up truck is parked on the roadway running. Caller can’t tell if is is occupied or not caller would like officers to check it out. Officer checked vehicle and it is unoccupied. It is parked legally. All checks OK at this time.

Code: Disturbance – Squad Call
Location: Leonard Street
Caller states that his neighbor is outside and yelling about someone killing her tree. Female is screaming and stating that she needs an ambulance and is now bleeding from her head. Officers responded to the above address. A female was intoxicated and could not care for herself. She was transported to the hospital and cited for disorderly conduct.

Caller states there are two males in front of their house standing outside of a white vehicle staring at the caller’s home. They have been there for a while and the homeowner is not sure what they are up to. Checks OK.


Friday, July 13 reports

Location: Broadway Avenue (Downtown)
A male wanted to report he was approached by another male running southbound on Broadway Avenue toward Union Street who stated that demons were chasing him. This occurred about 10 minutes ago. Male was wearing a white tank top carrying a bag. Officers were unable to locate the individual.

Caller requesting a squad for an evaluation. Patient refuses transport. Later female caller states that her brother is now still acting out. Male is in the backyard throwing things at the window. Female states she just left the residence. She is across the street. Units responding back. Squad requested.

Location: Northfield Road (Northfield Park Apartments)
Caller would like to show an officer video from her security camera in regards to a suspicion that occurred today. A male was walking around her car until he noticed her camera and then he walked back to his car. Suspect vehicle had two male occupants. Officers spoke to the caller who has a camera installed in her window. As she was reviewing the tapes she saw the suspicious activity. Caller wanted to make officers aware and would call back if she sees the vehicle again.

Caller advised there are four subjects yelling at each other in the area of Palmetto Avenue and W. Glendale Street. Caller stated he heard glass breaking. Does not see any weapons. Subjects are in the street. Advised he is OK. Everything is under control. Argument between mother and son. All quiet and settled prior to officer arrival. They denied being in the street. Both parties were advised of the complainant and disorderly conduct.

White Chevy truck backed up to the building. Lights on. Appears to be occupied. Located in East lot. Checks OK. Locking up after a baseball game.

Checking on a truck with lights on and no one is around. Both parties were advised of trespassing and sent on their way.

Saturday, July 14 reports

Time: 2:04 a.m.

Location: Lee Road S.
Caller advised someone in the apartment complex is arguing. Caller heard a lot of yelling and screaming. Delay on dispatch due to report of a fight at a bar all cars were diverted. Officers checked the area and were unable to locate any disturbance. All quiet upon arrival.

Time: 2:12 a.m.
Code: Fight – Disturbance
Location: Northfield Road (Lounge 228)
Approximately eight people involved in disturbance. Caller advised that one person was pepper-sprayed. Dispatch can hear lots people yelling in the background. Caller stated multiple people are yelling and screaming. Caller advised that the security officer had drawn his pistol but he has since put it away. Still has an open line. Caller not answering questions. Can still hear people yelling in the background. Bedford Heights sending a unit. Caller advised things are cooling down and people are leaving. Still have a carload of people in the lot. Caller advised police department was on scene and disconnected. Bedford Heights has two units responding. The place is clearing out. According to security guard, a group of four or five females were inside trying to fight people. At some point, an unknown male was pepper-sprayed in the face and lost control. The females and the unknown male were escorted outside and the argument spilled over outside. Everyone was leaving when security said the police were called.

Caller states that she hear people talking loudly. She states it is possibly near the plaza area. Delay in dispatch due to fight call — cars were diverted. Officers located the listed vehicle in the rear of the old target building. Occupant initially provided false information, but eventually admitted to his true identity. He stated he didn’t want the other party in the vehicle to know his real name. He was advised for falsification and trespass. Both parties were sent on their way.

Female is requesting to speak to an officer she states that her neighbor intentionally ran over her foot. BHMC security advised — they will talk to female and if they need us they will advise. Incident actually happened in Bedford Heights. Info given to caller.

Loud music coming from a vehicle for the last hour. Call delayed due to burglary call. All quiet upon officers’ arrival. Spoke to neighbors that were outside. They denied having any music on and stated it was possibly from a vehicle on Henry Street. Henry checked OK.

Caller believes someone may still be in home. Came home to find things thrown around and TV missing. Caller just opened door, saw items out of order and then went back outside. The door was locked and she had to use her key to get in.

Sunday, July 15 reports

Several vehicles parked near residence. Caller advised they are suspicious. Caller refused to provide info but is concerned because she has never seen these cars before and there are vacant houses in area. Officers out checking the vehicle for an odor of marijuana.

Location: Willard Avenue
Spoke to a male who advised he needs someone to come tell his wife to let him into the house because she locked him out. He provided the address and then hung up. Called male back. He immediately advised there is no domestic violence. Sounded intoxicated and confirmed his name and that he would be waiting in front of the house. Female opened the door and let the male in after much coaxing.

Male in red jacket and female wearing blue jacket. Caller believes they were getting high by cooler outside. Last seen walking towards the air pump. Officers checked the area. Unable to locate individuals.

Location: Dalepark Drive
Female has damaged the front window of a condo. She is now in the back doing damage to a window. Male also involved. He threw out the females belongings. She is currently pounding on the door to the unit and she is screaming. When officers arrived on scene, a vehicle left the lot at a high rate of speed. Officers located the vehicle on Northfield Road. Female’s cousin arrived to pick her up for the night. Officers waited for female as she grabbed some belongings for the night.

Sometime overnight, person(s) unknown gained access to the complainant’s unlocked vehicle and rummaged through it. Nothing appeared to be missing from the vehicle. The complainant will contact the department if anything is found to be missing.

Location: Ellenwood Avenue (Bedford Pool)
Caller reporting a 5-year-old female is at the pool and is looking for her 10-year-old brother. Five-year-old lives on Wandle Avenue. Unable to get anything further. Unknown where her parents are. Caller knows the brother and was helping her look for him at the park where she thought he went.  Checks OK. Officer stated the young female was reunited with her brother. They were going home.

Female claimed she was smacked in the face and pushed by her boyfriend. The male is inside the apartment. The female caller is sitting inside her car. Reported one in custody for disorderly conduct.

Caller advised there are three subjects at Taft Park being loud. They may be verbally arguing. Officers arrived and observed two vehicles in the area.

Monday, July 16 reports

Location: Logan Street
Caller advised male and female across the street appear to be arguing. Nothing physical at this time. Male is having a garage sale and appears to be selling the females stolen belongings. Female had made a burglary report in Cleveland earlier. Several items stolen. She is advising that a lot of her missing items are at a yard sale at this location. Complainant’s gazebo was located in the backyard of a house on Logan Street, and a bounce house was located behind another house. Both items returned to complainant.

Location: W. Glendale Street
Resident noticed that today her cleaners stole two bottles of prescription medication containing Ativan from her house. The complainant stated that two females from a cleaning company came over in the morning to clean her residence. After the cleaners left, the complainant noticed that two bottles of Ativan, containing 40-50 pills each, were missing. (One was on the kitchen counter and the other was on the nightstand in her bedroom). The complainant stated that both pill bottles contained 90 pills initially when she received them from her prescription company in the mail. Each bottle cost $20.00. The complainant also said that no one else was in her residence during the timeframe the pill bottles went missing. Contact was made with the customer service manager at the cleaning service. Information was obtained on the two employees that were at the complainant’s residence. Contact was made with one of the employees who denied taking the pills. A phone message was left for the second employee to contact the department as soon as possible.
