A customer’s car has gone missing, and the service department still has the key. Officer responded to the location and spoke with the complainant who stated that sometime last week, a vehicle had been removed from the lot after being towed in at the beginning of September for service. The registered owner came into the dealership a few weeks later, after the vehicle was repaired, with a check made out to a third party repair shop and herself, but the check was denied by the dealership as faulty payment. Several forms of contact had been made with the registered owner in an attempt to locate the vehicle. There was no video footage available as the dealership is unsure on what day and time the vehicle was removed from the lot. An attempt was made via phone and email to contact the registered owner on 10-17-2018 but that attempt was unsuccessful. At this moment, the complainant and police are waiting to see whether the registered owner returns any of the emails or phone calls before considering the option of pressing charges. Later, an officer spoke with the subject who stated that the vehicle was located at an auto body shop in Cleveland. The subject was going to reach out to Mercedes later on in the afternoon about discussing the options of repayment for the service done to the vehicle.
