As I begin my first full year serving on Bedford City Council, my focus is on listening, learning, and helping move forward the projects that residents consistently tell me matter most. While there is always a wide range of issues that come before Council, three priorities stand out for me this year: the railroad quiet zone, the future of the hospital site, and improving transparency and communication between City Hall and residents.
One of the most common concerns I hear from residents—especially those living near the tracks—is train noise. The railroad quiet zone is a complex issue involving safety requirements, infrastructure upgrades, and coordination with outside agencies, but it is an area where meaningful progress can greatly improve quality of life. My goal is to complete the groundwork needed to move the railroad quiet zone toward implementation.
Another major focus is the former hospital site. During my time on Council so far, no final decision has been made regarding its long-term use. I believe it’s important that this process remains open and transparent. This property represents both a challenge and an opportunity for Bedford, and I want to make sure residents are informed and involved as ideas are discussed, evaluated, and refined.
Finally, I want to place a strong emphasis on transparency and consistent communication between City Hall and residents. One of my goals this year is to make sure people understand not just what decisions are being made, but why they’re being made and how they affect the community. By sharing information clearly and regularly, I hope to ensure that all residents feel informed, included, and confident about what’s happening in their city.
Serving the residents of Bedford is a responsibility I take seriously. I look forward to continuing these conversations and working together to move our community forward.
