As reported by WKYC Studios, the Bedford City School District has placed Superintendent Dr. Cassandra Johnson on paid administrative leave, according to a recent confirmation from district officials. The district stated it is following established procedures and board policy but did not release additional details due to the matter involving personnel.

The decision follows several months of ongoing challenges within the district. In October 2025, school officials announced that multiple employees had been placed on administrative leave amid allegations of serious misconduct involving members of the high school administration. That announcement raised concerns across the community and led to calls for greater transparency.

In response, more than 150 Bedford High School students participated in a walkout, expressing frustration over a lack of communication from district leadership. The situation continued during a highly attended and tense board of education meeting on Oct. 16, where parents and community members pressed for answers.

During that meeting, a board member attempted to initiate action to place the superintendent on leave or seek her resignation, but the motion did not move forward after failing to receive a second.

Tensions continued into November, when the Bedford Education Association publicly announced a vote of no confidence in Johnson during the Nov. 20 board meeting. While the union had authorized that possibility in October, the announcement itself came later and reflected growing concerns among educators regarding leadership and transparency.

The district has not shared further information regarding the circumstances surrounding the superintendent’s leave.
