As reported by Cleveland 19 News, a sewer leak near the kitchen at Glendale Primary School forced the facility to shut down food service in early March after health officials found wastewater dripping from a broken pipe in an upstairs bathroom. The issue alarmed parents and prompted the school to close the kitchen and move meal preparation offsite, with students eating in an alternate location.

After repairs, deep cleaning, and clearance from the health department, the kitchen briefly reopened in mid-April. However, a second leak from another upstairs bathroom was discovered almost immediately, forcing another shutdown.

The Bedford City School District says it has taken steps to address the situation, including closing affected areas, consulting health experts, and implementing alternative meal plans. Officials state the kitchen will remain closed until all repairs are completed and proper approvals are received. The district is also in the process of building a new primary school, expected to open in 2027.
