Hello Bedford Residents:

I want to share some habits for good health. These strategies can support our wellness journey as we age.

1. Do a morning stretch – Stretching before getting out of bed wakes up the body, improves circulation, and promotes relaxation.

2. Stay Hydrated (Important) – If you didn’t know this, drinking water supports digestion, improves brain performance, and increases energy. So, drink a glass of water after you wake up and a glass with every meal.

3. Floss – Maintaining good oral health is important

4. Apply Sunscreen – Important for everyone. It protects your skin

5. Go Nuts – When you crave a snack, eat unsalted nuts and seeds like almonds, walnuts, peanuts and cashews. Better than eating candy.

6. Nap – If you can, take an afternoon nap, it can recharge a tired body and may help cognitive functions.

7. Move around – If sitting all day. Get up and go for a walk or jumping jacks. Just do something to get the blood flowing in the legs and body.

8. Take a breather – Do some breathing exercises. It calms the nerves.

9. Enjoy a hobby – Starting a hobby is good for people’s health and mood. Hobbies involve your creativity, self-expression, relaxation, and cognitive (brain) stimulation.

And the last Habit – Be Social (Important)
Social interactions can prevent loneliness and protect against depression and cognitive decline (brain function). So, social interaction is very important. It can be meeting for coffee, lunch, talking to friends, family, casual conversations like with a grocery store employee, department store associate, just talking to people that you meet.

So, take some of these habits and use them to your advantage. Stay well

Peace to all
