Hello Bedford Residents

Summer is slowly approaching, so as it warms up, comes annoying gnats and fruit flies in the kitchen. The warm weather increases their breeding cycles and drives them around moisture and food. The best way to eliminate them is to locate and dry up their breeding grounds, such as over watered house plants, rotting produce, and damp drains.

Ways to get rid of the Gnats

– Set up apple cider vinegar traps (for fruit flies and drain flies

– Clean your drains: Scrub the kitchen and bathroom drains

– Tighten your trash: keep all indoor and outdoor garbage cans sealed tightly

Lastly, we have flies, mosquitos and other pesty insects to deal with outside. If you enjoy the outdoors, use a bug repellent spray for the skin that is registered with the EPA.

The following skin repellent sprays are:

– Best Picaridin: Clean Feel or STEM for your skin. They use 20% picaridin, are non-greasy, and won’t damage clothing.

– Best for Sensitive Skin: Avon Skin So Soft Bug Guard Plus. It contains picaridin but is enriched with Vitamin E and Aloe to soothe the skin.

– Best Plant-Based: Repel Plant-Based Lemon Eucalyptus. Provides up to 8 hours of protection without synthetic chemicals.

Enjoy the summer
