The City of Bedford is inviting residents and visitors to celebrate the nation’s upcoming 250th anniversary during Liberty Days, a three-day community celebration honoring America’s history through entertainment, activities, and local traditions.
Presented as part of Bedford’s America 250 celebration, Liberty Days will take place July 10-12 and feature events at both Bedford Commons and the Ellenwood Center.
The weekend begins Friday, July 10, with Movie on the Square, featuring Disney’s Hamilton. Pre-show entertainment begins at 4:30 p.m., followed by the movie at 7 p.m. at Bedford Commons. The free event will include music, trivia, character appearances, and fresh popcorn available for purchase from the Bedford Historical Society Museum.
Activities continue Saturday, July 11, with the America Celebration on the Square. Beginning at 11 a.m., the day will feature a flag raising ceremony by the VFW, the National Anthem performed by the Bedford Alumni Band, food vendors, music, carnival games, interactive entertainment, community organizations, museum tours, live performances, and additional family-friendly activities throughout the day. The celebration concludes with closing remarks and a finale at 9:40 p.m.
Liberty Days concludes Sunday, July 12, with the Elmer Flick Baseball Classic at the Ellenwood Center. The day’s activities include old-time baseball, youth baseball games, a Bedford employee charity softball game benefiting Bedford Meals on Wheels, food, refreshments, and family activities celebrating Bedford native and Baseball Hall of Famer Elmer Flick.
According to the City’s commemorative event guide, Liberty Days is one of the signature events planned as Bedford joins communities across Ohio in recognizing America’s 250th anniversary through programs highlighting the nation’s history and Ohio’s contributions to its story.
