As reported by WKYC Studios, authorities have identified the man whose body was discovered along the shoreline at Clifton Beach in Lakewood on Thursday afternoon as 55-year-old Louis Shimits of Bedford.
According to Lakewood police, witnesses spotted the man shortly before 4:15 p.m. Emergency responders arrived at the scene, and he was transported to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead approximately 15 minutes later.
The circumstances surrounding Shimits’ death remain under investigation. The Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner’s Office is working to determine the cause and manner of death. No additional information has been released at this time.
