Bedford residents can take advantage of the city’s brush and branch collection service by ensuring all items are on the curb and calling the Service Department at 440-735-6583 before the start of the designated pick-up week. For efficient collection, place branches on the tree lawn with the cut ends facing the same direction—either towards the street or in the flow of traffic. Branches should not exceed 10 inches in diameter, and limbs should be left as long as possible for seamless feeding into the chipper.

Items exceeding 10 inches in diameter or shorter than 3 feet will not be collected. Unacceptable items include rose bushes, grape vines, pricker bushes, firewood, fence posts, wood pallets, or wood with nails or screws. These need to be disposed of with regular trash collection. Additionally, railroad ties and stumps must be removed at the homeowner’s expense.

The city’s chipper service will be available during the weeks of August 5, September 3, and October 7, 2024. As with the general collection, residents must place items on the curb and notify the Service Department before the start of the scheduled pickup week. Addresses cannot be added once collection has commenced for the month.

This service is an excellent way for Bedford residents to maintain their yards and dispose of large branches and brush efficiently. For any questions or to schedule a pick-up, contact the Bedford Service Department at 440-735-6583.
