In the Work Session, we will be discussing:
- Listening to a presentation from MuniReg – One of the biggest problems a City can have when dealing with vacant and neglected properties is tracking down the owners. In Ohio, it is stupid easy to set up an LLC and buy a house with it, which essentially gives the owner some anonymity and makes it hard for cities to find the responsible party. MuniReg is a service that tracks down the actual owners of these buildings so that the City can more successfully pursue negligent building owners.
- Redistricting – It has been a very long time since the wards in the City were rebalanced, and some of the wards have… unique shapes that probably are not needed anymore. The Council will be beginning the process of redistricting, which will involve an outside firm coming in to analyze and make suggestions to that effect.
In the Regular Session, we will be voting on:
- A minor language change to ordinance 1305.31 to remove the phrase ‘appurtenant structure’ and replace it with ‘structure’ – For those of you, like myself, who did not score a perfect score on the vocabulary part of the ACT, an ‘appurtenant structure’ is a structure that is attached to another structure. The word ‘appurtenant’ creates a loophole in the ordinance that would disclude structures like unattached garages and sheds. This change closes that loophole.
- Agreeing to participate in conjunction with the State to upgrade the guardrails on Rockside Road.
- Using Cintas for the City’s uniform needs
- Purchasing 2 new vehicles for the Police Department
- Purchasing a new vehicle for the Animal Warden
- Purchasing additional equipment to outfit the new animal control vehicle
