As warmer weather returns, the City of Bedford would like to remind all residents and property owners about the importance of regular yard maintenance. A well-kept property not only enhances the overall appearance of our neighborhoods but also contributes to community safety.
According to Bedford Codified Ordinances 1341.18 and 1341.19, property owners are responsible for maintaining the front, back, and side yard areas of their property. This includes cutting the grass, removing weeds, and trimming trees and shrubs as needed. Regular upkeep ensures that properties remain visually appealing and helps preserve the charm of Bedford’s residential areas.
Of particular importance is maintaining trees and shrubs in a way that does not obstruct views for drivers or pedestrians. Overgrown greenery can block sightlines at intersections or encroach on sidewalks, posing safety risks for both motorists and those on foot. Keeping vegetation neatly trimmed helps ensure that sidewalks are accessible and that traffic visibility is clear from all directions.
The City appreciates the cooperation of all residents in doing their part to keep neighborhoods safe, clean, and attractive. Regular yard maintenance not only improves property values but also reflects a shared sense of pride in our community.
