January’s snowy magic is here, and that means it’s prime time for classic winter fun — especially sledding! While Bedford Reservation doesn’t have a designated sledding hill, there are several great nearby spots where families, kids, and winter lovers can enjoy snow play and winter slopes just a short drive away.

One of the best sledding hills in our region is at Hinckley Reservation. This well‑known hill offers a fun slope when snow conditions are good and is popular with local families and teens alike. It’s about a 35–40 minute drive from Bedford, perfect for a morning or afternoon outing.

Another great option is the sledding area at Sleepy Hollow in Brecksville Reservation. With gentle slopes ideal for younger children and families, this spot makes a great first sledding adventure and is roughly an 18–22 minute drive from Bedford.

Both reservations offer more than sledding — you can also enjoy winter hiking, snowshoeing, or a snowy picnic in between sled runs. Just be sure the snow and weather conditions are right before heading out.

Winter safety tips: Dress in warm layers, wear waterproof gloves and boots, and use proper sledding gear. Only sled on hills with good snow cover and clear run‑outs, and avoid icy or wooded areas.

So grab your sled, pack some hot cocoa in a thermos, and make a day of winter fun at one of these sledding spots near Bedford — because January was made for snowy memories!
