One of the safest options is using an authentication app, such as Google Authenticator or Microsoft Authenticator, which generates secure codes directly on your device. Text-message codes are helpful too, though slightly less secure than app-based options.

While adding an extra step might seem inconvenient at first, it quickly becomes routine. And the added security is well worth it.
