BEDFORD HEIGHTS, OH — As reported by Progressive Grocer, Giant Eagle Inc. has completed a major technology upgrade at its largest distribution center in Bedford Heights, Ohio. The 1-million-square-foot facility recently transitioned to Manhattan Associates’ cloud-native warehouse management system (WMS), Manhattan Active Warehouse Management, marking the fifth technology enhancement within the company’s distribution network.
The new system streamlines all aspects of warehouse operations, improving the speed, efficiency, and agility of Giant Eagle’s supply chain. The Bedford Heights facility exceeded performance expectations in its first week, handling hundreds of thousands of incoming and outgoing cases with ease. Company leadership credited the smooth implementation to strong collaboration with Manhattan Associates, a global supply chain technology firm.
The move is part of Giant Eagle’s broader modernization strategy, with plans to roll out the cloud-based WMS to its remaining two distribution centers by September 2025. The system also integrates with transportation management tools, allowing for improved coordination between warehouse and delivery operations.
Giant Eagle, headquartered in Pittsburgh, operates over 470 stores across five states, including Ohio and Pennsylvania. The company continues to invest in technology to support its expansive network and maintain a competitive edge in the grocery retail market. The successful deployment at the Bedford Heights location serves as a milestone in Giant Eagle’s digital transformation and underscores its commitment to operational excellence.
