The change comes nearly a year after recreational marijuana became legal and follows new guidelines released by the Division of Cannabis Control on August 1.
Although many residents assumed pre-rolls were already available, this marks their official debut. Some dispensaries experienced immediate sellouts, while others are seeing slower sales as customers learn more about the new offering. Inventory levels vary, with some dispensaries expecting it may take weeks or even months to fully stock the product.
Industry professionals say pre-rolls are a top-selling product in more established markets and anticipate similar trends here. One cannabis company representative noted that pre-rolls often outperform other products in sales volume, particularly among adult-use customers.
Amplify Dispensary has begun selling pre-rolls at its Bedford and Cleveland Heights locations. The company’s operations director described the experience as surreal, reflecting on how frequently customers inquired about pre-roll availability since recreational sales began.
Meanwhile, Klutch Cannabis is preparing for a potential increase in demand once final approval is granted. A company executive said they’ve been ready for some time and view this as another step toward fulfilling the full vision of the state’s recreational cannabis program.
Pre-rolls are available to both recreational and medical users, but marketing the product remains off-limits under current regulations. State officials also remind consumers that bringing cannabis across state lines is illegal.
