Power Outages
If you experience a loss of power, call 1-888-544-4877 (1-888-LIGHTSS) to report outages.
Snow Removal
When snow accumulation exceeds two inches, a parking ban is put into effect, prohibiting parking on any city streets.
It is the property owner’s responsibility to clear snow from the sidewalk. Additionally, residents are requested to clear fire hydrants in front of their homes.
When having your driveway and sidewalks cleared of snow, all snow must remain on your property.
Prevent Frozen Water Pipes During Winter
As temperatures drop, the risk of frozen pipes increases. Here are some tips to help prevent problems:
- Keep your thermostat at 55 degrees or above, even when you are away.
- Keep doors and windows closed and well insulated.
- Caulk cracks to prevent cold air from entering your home.
- Remove hoses and shut spigots from the inside – drain if possible.
- Use pipe insulation wherever possible.
- During extreme temperatures, run a trickle of water from your hot and cold faucets. The cost of the water is much less expensive than repairing broken pipes.
- Open cabinet doors to circulate warmer room air around pipes.
- Always keep your main service line shutoff valve clear and accessible. You may need to quickly shut off the water to minimize damage from burst piping.
- When thawing frozen lines, never use an open flame. Carefully use a hair dryer on the lowest setting, and do not get it wet.
