BEDFORD, OH — As reported by Cleveland 19 News, police have filed charges against a man following a shooting that left two people injured near Central Primary School earlier this week.

Authorities identified the suspect as Carl Jeffrey, who now faces two counts of felonious assault. He is currently being held at the Solon City Jail.

The incident occurred Monday morning around 10:30 a.m. in the 800 block of Washington Street. According to Bedford Police, both a man and a woman were struck by gunfire during the attack. Emergency responders transported the victims for treatment, and officials later confirmed their conditions had stabilized. Their names have not been made public.

Police reported that Jeffrey was located and taken into custody not far from the scene shortly after the shooting. He had also sustained injuries and received medical attention at a local hospital before being transferred to jail.

Investigators believe that Jeffrey was acquainted with both victims, though the exact nature of their relationship has not been disclosed. Authorities have not released a motive for the shooting at this time, and the investigation remains ongoing.

The proximity of the incident to Central Primary School raised concern in the community, though officials did not report any immediate threat to students or staff during the event. Bedford Police continue to gather information as the case proceeds through the courts.
