BEDFORD HEIGHTS, OH — According to Cleveland 19 News, a 20-year-old man, DaTwaun Diamond, has admitted to his involvement in the fatal shooting of 19-year-old La’Quan Evans. The tragic incident occurred on the evening of March 30, 2024, at approximately 11:30 p.m., at the Libby Gas Station, located on Libby Road in Bedford Heights, Ohio. The altercation between Diamond and Evans escalated, leading to Evans being fatally shot. Following the shooting, Diamond fled the scene, prompting an investigation and a manhunt.

After nearly two months on the run, Diamond was apprehended on May 21, 2024, by U.S. Marshals. He was located and arrested at a residence on Case Court in Cleveland, Ohio. Authorities charged him with involuntary manslaughter in connection with the incident.

On December 9, 2024, Diamond formally pleaded guilty to the charge in Cuyahoga County Court of Common Pleas. His sentencing is scheduled for January 7, 2025, where he will appear before Judge David Matia.
