Here is the agenda for today’s (5/18/20) City Council Meeting. Due to the directives surrounding COVID-19, the Council will be meeting via Zoom this evening but you will be able to watch the video of both the work session, the budget meeting and the regular session at the City’s YouTube page.

The public will be able to submit any questions, comments or concerns to citymanager@bedfordoh.gov which will be monitored throughout the meeting. Please feel free to send you questions ahead of time.

In the Work Session, we will be discussing:
- The Regular Session agenda
- Staffing and economic development issues
In the Budget Meeting, we will be voting on approving & accepting the 2020 Tax Budget.
In the Regular Session, we will be discussing:
- Declaring the necessity to improve certain streets by lighting same
- Proceed with the improvement of certain streets by lighting same – This and the one prior allows the City to make improvements to certain streets in the City
- Levying special assessments for the improvement of the street and public places. This allows the City to set aside money for this purpose.
- Levying assessment for garbage/refuse collection, recycling and disposal. This allows the City to set aside money for this purpose.
- Request County Auditor to advance taxes from tax levy proceeds for 2020 collected in 2021. This is done every year and allows the City to gain early access to money already collected by the County.
- Hiring GDP Services to do a No Feasible Alternatives Analysis for EPA reasons. This item is on hold while a quote from another company comes in.
- To pursue funds from the SB 310 grant (A COVID-19 related grant that is being distributed by the State of Ohio.
- Purchasing new Building Department software to track permits and other notes about various properties in the City
- Agreeing to adopt Uniform Guidance Cost Principles, which pertains to how money received from the Federal government is used and tracked by the City
- Selling the ambulance that was recently replaced with a new ambulance.
- Agreeing to enter a Master Cooperation Agreement with the County so that Bedford will do routine maintenance on county roads and the County will reimburse the City for for that maintenance.
- Entering in with a Mutual Aid Agreement with the MetroParks. Basically this means that if they need more police or emergency services in the Bedford Reservation than they have, Bedford will provide theirs and vice versa.
- Allowing the City to go into a contract with Burton Scott Contractors for the resurfacing of Forbes Rd.
- Allowing the City to go into a contract with Chagrin Valley Paving for work to improve the roads in Bedford as part of the Road Improvement Program.
