Hello Bedford Residents
I’m sure you’ve heard of the “Teen Takeover” across the U.S. If it’s not one thing it’s another. Today May 26, 2026 on NBC Nightly News, the chaos has turned extremely violent. One teen plowed his car into five Police Officers, leaving them with mild injuries. One teen was shot and other teens were injured. This happened in Chicago, Illinois. This is sadly unnecessary. This problem starts on Social Media. There needs to be extreme policing on Social Media.
What causes these kids to form such a group to commit such violence is due to the following issues:
– Peer pressure
– Driven by the thrill of gaining social media clout
– A desire for belonging
– Mob mentality
– Acting impulsively
– Unstable family environment
– Poverty
– One or both parents are unavailable
– Bullying, ADHD
I’m not here to tell any parent how to manage their child. I’m just voicing my thoughts on this “Teen Takeover.” Some parents have control of their children and some have lost control. I say maybe take the child’s phone after 9:00p.m. Set up phone monitoring. Have family talks and spend time with the child. Tell the child the consequences of their behavior, and that there will be a law enforced fine for the violence they caused. Just my thoughts.
I pray that we do not encounter this “Teen Takeover” in Bedford and the surrounding cities. It doesn’t make any sense or prove anything. Just violence, property damage and people injured.
