As reported by Cleveland.com News, Bedford Municipal Court Clerk and Court Administrator Thomas E. Day Jr. is retiring at the end of the week after nearly 40 years in public service, including more than 38 years with Bedford Municipal Court.
During his tenure, Day helped guide the court through significant operational changes, including the move to its current facility and updates to court management systems. Court officials credited him with helping the court adapt to changing needs while maintaining service to the public.
Following Day’s retirement, Chief Magistrate Brian P. Downey will assume the roles of clerk and court administrator. Downey has served the Bedford Municipal Court for more than 14 years.
Court leadership recognized Day’s long-standing service and contributions to the court and the 14 communities it serves. Day expressed appreciation for the judges, magistrates, probation officers, bailiffs, deputy clerks, and others he worked alongside throughout his career.
Before joining Bedford Municipal Court in 1987, Day worked at Cleveland Municipal Court, serving in both deputy clerk and chief deputy clerk positions.
