Hello Everyone
Our Sewage Workers are the heroes of public health and environmental protection. They maintain and operate the infrastructure that keeps human waste from backing up into homes, while ensuring millions of gallons of wastewater are safely treated and filtered before returning to local ecosystems. Their day-to-day work is much needed for sustaining communities by preventing disease outbreaks and infrastructure failures.
Their specific responsibilities include:
– Clearing blockages: Removing clogs caused by grease, tree roots, and debris to stop raw sewage from flooding streets and basements.
– Maintaining Infrastructure: They use specialized robotics and CCTV cameras to inspect pipelines and repairing broken pipes to prevent leaks.
– Treating Wastewater: They operate complex plant systems to filter out pathogens safely break down organic matter and remove harmful chemicals.
– Protecting Waterways: They ensure the treated water is returned to the environment (like the local rivers and Lake Erie) is clean and strictly complies with EPA regulations.
Sewage from homes in Bedford, Ohio, flows into the city’s sanitary sewer system from there, it is routed to local wastewater treatment infrastructure and the Northeast Ohio Regional Sewer District (NEORSD) system, essentially being treated at the Southerly Wastewater Treatment Center in Cuyahoga Heights prior to being safely released.
Bedford’s Service Department manages and maintains the local sanitary sewer lines that receive wastewater from your sinks, toilets, and drains.
So, everyone, Sewage Workers are important to us. Especially when there’s an emergency from rainstorm flooding or pipes burst. Sewage Workers face extreme hazards, including confined space dangers, toxic gases like hydrogen sulfide and waterborne diseases and viruses.
Again, these workers are our heroes along with our other service professionals. These professionals use their expertise to ensure our cities and communities are protected from sewage catastrophes.
Much thanks to our professional sewage experts and what they do for our city’s.
Love and Peace
