Bedford City Council met on April 6, 2026, addressing a range of contracts, development items, and community concerns.

Council voted to remove the proposed contract with the City of Twinsburg for emergency dispatch services from the agenda, allowing additional time to explore service options and costs.

In new business, council approved a zoning request for a shed addition on High Street and passed several ordinances related to city operations. These included contracts for property and liability insurance, IT services and cybersecurity upgrades, firefighting equipment, and multiple service vehicles, all of which had been budgeted.

Council also approved an agreement connected to the Ohio Brownfield Remediation Program, supporting the demolition of structures at the former hospital site and preparing the property for future redevelopment.

Additional actions included approving a purchase agreement for several parcels, moving forward with the replacement of playground equipment at Greenwood Park, and authorizing the condemnation of a property on Henry Street due to nuisance conditions.

City officials shared updates on ongoing efforts, including the start of chipper service, upcoming ward meetings, and continued work on infrastructure and neighborhood concerns such as traffic safety, abandoned properties, and hydrant repairs.

During the hearing of citizens, residents raised concerns about neighborhood conditions, property maintenance, and development trends, as well as questions regarding the Greenwood Park project and downtown upkeep.

Council adjourned the meeting at 8:10 p.m.
