Have you ever opened an article online only to find yourself distracted by pop-up ads, flashing banners, or cluttered web pages? Many web browsers include a feature called Reading Mode (sometimes called Reader View) that can make reading online much more enjoyable.

Reading Mode removes many of the extra elements on a webpage, leaving behind the main article in a clean, easy-to-read format. It often enlarges the text, improves spacing, and eliminates unnecessary distractions so you can focus on the information you’re looking for.

Many browsers offer this feature, including Safari, Microsoft Edge, Firefox, and others. When available, you’ll usually see a small book or page icon in the address bar. Clicking it switches the page into Reading Mode. Some browsers even let you customize the text size, font style, or background color for a more comfortable reading experience.

This feature can be especially helpful when reading news articles, recipes, instructional guides, or long blog posts. It may also reduce eye strain by presenting information in a simpler layout.

Keep in mind that Reading Mode doesn’t work on every website, especially pages that rely heavily on interactive content or videos. However, when it’s available, it’s an easy way to create a cleaner reading experience.

The next time you come across a busy webpage, look for Reading Mode. It’s a built-in tool that many people never notice—but once you try it, it may become one of your favorite technology features.
