Few things are more frustrating than constant spam calls interrupting your day. From fake warranty offers to scam callers pretending to be government agencies, unwanted calls have become a common annoyance. Fortunately, there are several simple ways to reduce them.
Most smartphones now include built-in tools to help block spam calls. On iPhones, you can enable “Silence Unknown Callers” in your phone settings. Android devices often offer “Caller ID & Spam Protection” features that can automatically identify suspicious calls before you answer.
Another helpful step is registering your number with the National Do Not Call Registry. While it won’t stop scammers completely, it can reduce legitimate telemarketing calls over time.
Be cautious when answering unfamiliar numbers. If a caller claims to be from your bank, utility company, or a government office, avoid giving personal information over the phone. Instead, hang up and contact the organization directly using a trusted phone number from their official website or billing statement.
You should also avoid pressing buttons when prompted by suspicious robocalls. Even pressing “2 to be removed from the list” can sometimes confirm your number is active, leading to more unwanted calls.
Many mobile carriers also provide free or low-cost spam filtering apps for additional protection.
While spam calls may never disappear entirely, taking a few minutes to adjust your phone settings and stay cautious can make your phone a much quieter—and safer—part of your daily life.
