As reported by Cleveland.com News, Bedford City School District officials are preparing for the next phase of the district’s school construction projects, focusing on administrative leadership, staffing assignments and organizational changes.
During the Oct. 1 Board of Education work session, Superintendent Tom Evans outlined plans to begin transition discussions as early as November. The district will need to fill leadership positions in its new buildings and determine how staff members will be assigned under the updated school configuration.
Evans proposed involving two school board members on interview teams for leadership positions. He is also working with the Educational Service Center and interim Human Resources Director Mike May to review the district’s central administrative structure. A proposed organizational outline is expected to be presented at a future board work session.
The planning comes as the district moves forward with several major facility changes. The district is building a new Bedford Middle School and Perkins Primary School. Under the new configuration, Heskett Middle School is expected to become an intermediate school, while Carylwood Intermediate School is expected to transition into a preschool.
Construction is also underway on the new Bedford High School, which is scheduled to open for the 2028–2029 school year.
Beyond staffing and leadership decisions, the district plans to use upcoming board work sessions to review individual schools’ goals and progress. Representatives from two buildings at a time will present their goals, action plans and updates to board members.
These discussions will help guide decisions about staffing, leadership and district operations as Bedford prepares to transition into its new and reconfigured school facilities.
