Kids Café -18 & younger

Kids ages 18 and under can get a FREE lunch provided by the Greater Cleveland Food Bank, while supplies last.

Student Success Center — K-8th
Monday-Thursday (school days) 4-6:30pm

Since 2002, our FREE Student Success Center’s program has helped thousands of students in grades K–8 improve their grades and subject comprehension. Student Success Centers are available at 10 branches. Students who participate in the program receive homework assistance from trained tutors in the following subjects: language arts, math, reading, science, and social studies. MUST REGISTER

Chinese Paper Lantern Craft — Ages 4-7 with caregiver

Children and their families are invited to learn about Chinese culture and make a paper lantern to take home. This program will also feature the book Playing with Lanterns by Wang Yage, which describes the joy and excitement of the Chinese folk custom and tradition. A snack of crunchy rice rolls, a popular Chinese snack, will also be served.

Ellenwood Book Discussion — Adults

Attend our May monthly book discussion at Ellenwood Community Center 124 Ellenwood Ave, Bedford, OH 44146  Phone: (440) 735-6570. This month we’re reading and discussing His and Hers by Alice Feeney. Copies of the book will be available at the Bedford Branch and at the Ellenwood Center one month before the date of the discussion. “When a woman is murdered in Blackdown, a quintessentially British village, news anchor Anna Andrews is reluctant to cover the case. Kids Cook! — Grades 3-6

Expand your cooking skills with quick, simple, and delicious recipes. Registration required, opens April 9th, 2024, 9 AM. This program may include activities that could be considered harmful. In order for your child to participate you must sign the Release and Hold Harmless form and return it to the program location at least one week prior to the program’s start date. PowerPoint Basics ★ — Adults

Geared toward the beginner, this class offers an overview of Microsoft PowerPoint, a software program for designing creative presentations and slideshows. Create a simple presentation and learn how to add text, images and transitions to slides. Prerequisite: Word Basics or some experience using PowerPoint. Earn a Northstar Digital Literacy Certificate for this class with the
successful completion of an assessment. Learn more about this certification. Classes start promptly! We cannot hold seats for attendees who arrive after an in-person class has started. Anyone not on the registration list will be given an available seat on a first-come, first-served basis. MUST REGISTER

Wordly Wanderers — Grades 2-5

Travel the world from the comfort of our library! Each session we will learn about a different country and its unique culture via food, stories, and crafts. Collect stamps in your passports for each session you attend! All materials, including faux passports, will be provided. MUST REGISTER

Modern Macrame Dreamcatcher — Adults

Discover the art of contemporary macrame as you learn to weave, knot, and a create dreamcatcher that blends traditional techniques with a modern twist. This is a perfect project for a beginner. All materials will be provided. MUST REGISTER

Geometric Paper Collage — Adults

In this beginner-friendly class, combine diamond-shaped collage elements to create exquisite multi-colored stars. Experiment with different colors and paper varieties to make your own patchwork stars, and then bring them together to create a harmonious piece of artwork. MUST REGISTER

African American Authors Book Group — IN-Person or Virtual All Adults are Welcome

May Title: Chameleon: A Back Box Thriller by Remi Adeleke. Join us for the discussion of this book where the author uses his military background to add authenticity to this international thriller.
