September brought a full slate of fall sports for Bedford High School, with the Bearcats recording victories on the soccer field, volleyball court and football field.
Boys soccer finished the month 3-4-1, beginning September with a 3-1 win over Villa Angela-St. Joseph. After several challenging matchups, Bedford battled Firestone to a 2-2 tie before ending the month on a strong note. The Bearcats defeated Harding 3-2 on Sept. 26 and Cuyahoga Heights 2-1 on Sept. 29, giving the team back-to-back victories to close September.
Girls volleyball put together a strong month, going 5-3 in games with reported scores. The Bearcats opened September with consecutive 3-0 victories over Lutheran East and Maple Heights before earning a five-set win over Brush. Bedford also defeated Warrensville Heights 3-1 and John Marshall 3-0. A Sept. 29 rematch against Maple Heights did not have a score reported.
On the football field, Bedford faced a difficult stretch against Padua Franciscan, Brush and Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin. The Bearcats broke through in impressive fashion on Sept. 26, defeating John F. Kennedy 66-0. The victory gave Bedford a 1-3 record for September and provided an emphatic finish to the month’s schedule.
Bedford’s girls soccer team also had a Sept. 21 matchup against Euclid listed on the schedule, but no final score was reported.
With September complete, Bedford’s fall teams head into October with several encouraging performances to build upon.
