Due to the directives surrounding COVID-19, the Council will be meeting via Zoom this evening but you will be able to watch the video of both the work session and the regular session at the City’s YouTube page. Think of it as a Brady Bunch edition of the City Council Meeting. 😉

In the Work Session, we will be discussing:

  • Mostly staffing schedules as we navigate how the City functions during the shut down

In the Regular Session, we will be voting on:

  • Authorizing a CRA agreement. APEC will be refurbishing the old YMCA building to be their new headquarters. They would receive a 75% tax exemption in this CRA.
  • Authorizing a contract with Silco Fire & Safety to allow for the installation of a new security camera system around the Municipal Building.
  • Amending the ordinance pertaining to the City’s membership in the Ohio Municipal League Joint-Self Insurance Pool which helps us get a better deal on insurance coverage.
  • A contract with Simplex for operating system upgrade. Basically, this would cover them making sure that all operating systems on the CIty’s computers are updated and functioning properly
  • A contract with ODOT for winter rock salt for next year. Salt contracts are negotiated the year prior.
  • Declaring the necessity to improve certain streets by lighting same
  • Proceed with the improvement of certain streets by lighting same – This and the one prior allows the City to make improvements to certain streets in the City
  • Levying special assessments for the improvement of the street and public places. This allows the City to set aside money for this purpose.
  • Levying assessment for garbage/refuse collection, recycling and disposal. This allows the City to set aside money for this purpose.
  • Declaring 83 Henry Street a nuisance. This basically condemns the property and makes way for the City to pursue other avenues to either get the property improved or torn down.
  • Advertise for bids for the Street and Sidewalk Program. This will authorize the City to start looking for bids for the street and sidewalk improvements that are planned for this year.
  • Approving the 2020 Tax Budget.
  • Request County Auditor to advance taxes from tax levy proceeds for 2020 collected in 2021. This is done every year and allows the City to gain early access to money already collected by the County.
