Here is the agenda for today’s (8/3/20) City Council Meeting. Due to the directives surrounding COVID-19, the Council will be meeting via Zoom this evening but you will be able to watch the video of both the work session, the budget meeting and the regular session at the City’s YouTube page.

The videos are now broadcast live at this URL so if you tune in at 6pm for the work session, 7pm for the budget meeting and 8pm regular session, you can watch the Council meeting live: https://www.youtube.com/CityofBedfordOH

The public will be able to submit any questions, comments or concerns to citymanager@bedfordoh.gov which will be monitored throughout the meeting.  Please feel free to send you questions ahead of time.

Mayor Koci, City Council and the Administration will answer / reply during the public comments portion of the meeting.  Once again, thank you for your cooperation, understanding and partnership during these unprecedented times.

Be sure to SUBSCRIBE to the City of Bedford YouTube channel (big red subscribe button below the video). If you subscribe, you will get a notification when the live video starts as well as getting a link to watch it later.

In the Work Session, we will be discussing:

  • The Regular Session agenda
  • Bedford’s really, really bad weeds and lawn law. Seriously, it inadvertently bans trees and shrubs. :/ Councilman Genutis (W2) has put together a new, better written version that he feels will also be more friendly to gardens in the City.

In the Regular Session, we will be voting on:

  • Agreeing to a contract with J.D. Striping so that we can have an outside company do out road striping.
  • Purchasing a Vaughan Chopper Pump from JGM Valve for the Waste Treatment Plant
  • Levying assessments for grass cutting
  • Levy assessments for delinquent water bills. In both these cases, we are giving the City permission to transfer accrued charges and fines onto the property’s tax bill.
  • Agreeing to a contract with United Services for the 2020 Sewer Maintenance. They will be putting a camera down the sewer system to help identify possible trouble spots so that they can be repaired before they cause an issue. This service will be paid for with grant money.
  • A motion to accept the Planning Commission’s recommendation to allow a solar panel on the roof at 83 Ellenwood.
  • A motion to accept the Planning Commission’s recommendation to allow a permanent cosmetic studio at 450 Broadway.
