Hello Bedford Residents
For those of you that are getting ready for vacations and the Memorial Day Holiday weekend, protect yourselves as you travel by wearing a mask if you fear airborne viruses that are nothing like seasonal allergies.
These are immediate viruses to stay aware of:
As you all know there’s a new virus called Hantavirus which caused a deadly virus outbreak on an Argentina cruise ship in April/May. So far, the Director of Epidemic and Pandemic Situations states that there is not an epidemic we had six years ago (COVID-19). So, for now we don’t have to worry unless you have family or friends that were traveling on the cruise ship in Argentina. Transmission of this virus is a rare, localized rodent-borne disease with a high mortality rate.
Symptoms of Hantavirus;
The symptoms begin 1 to 8 weeks after exposure and progress in two stages:
– Flu-like symptoms, rapidly deteriorating 4 to 10 days later into severe respiratory distress or kidney complications.
Symptoms:
– High fever and chills
– Fatigue and severe muscle aches
– Headaches and dizziness
– Gastrointestinal issues, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea and abdominal pain
Be careful and protect yourselves
NORO Virus
This virus spreads quickly among people, you can get it from contaminated foods and surfaces. It can survive on surfaces for long periods of time, like hours and days.
Symptoms:
– Diarrhea
– Vomiting
– Nausea
– Stomach pain
And of course, we all know the COVID-19 Pandemic (six years ago)
This airborne pandemic caused the following symptoms:
– Symptoms mirroring a severe cold or flu
– Cough
– Nasal congestion
– Sore throat
– Fatigue
– Headache & Fever
So, everyone, while traveling and having fun during the summer or anytime, the only thing we can do to hopefully prevent ourselves from getting sick is not to touch your eyes, nose, or mouth unless you’ve washed your hands, and don’t forget to keep hand sanitizer with you at all times or wear a mask if you choose. Please try to stay safe, that’s all we can do.
Enjoy the summer weather.
Peace to all
