Hello Bedford Residents

Social Security checks vary because payments are individually calculated based on lifetime earnings (amount earned yearly), length of your work history, the age you claim benefits, and whether you’re receiving spousal or survivor benefits.

Main Factors, lifetime earnings:
The Social Security Administration bases retirement benefits on your consistent 30 to 35 earning years. Higher wages throughout your working years result in higher social security benefit amounts. Also, working for the Government, Postal Service, serving in the Military etc. for 30 to 35 years and not switching jobs.

So, if you can, try to work towards getting raises to increase your wages. Trust me, I know it’s hard on jobs these days. But the higher your pay, the better your social security benefit will be.

Peace to all
