Tuesday, July 3 reports

Time: 10:15 a.m.
Code: Theft
Location: Turney Road
Officers spoke to a female in the lobby who stated on Monday she went into her house for five minutes and came back out and her purse that she left on the front seat passenger floorboard of her unlocked vehicle was missing. The purse was white with black letters on it. The female states there was also a spare car key, blood pressure cuffs, thermometer and stethoscope taken from the vehicle and she does not have any make, model or serial numbers for any of the items. She states the approximate loss value, including the purse, to be around $200.00. Also, she states there are no visible signs of forced entry and that they left her wallet in the car. Caller states that she did not see anything suspicious and has no problems with any family, friends or neighbors, so she does not know who could have done it.

Caller said her daughter made some statements about another sibling that she thought should be looked into either by the police or child services. The caller and officers agreed at this time it would be best for the children’s center of Medina County to interview her daughter. She was advised a report would be on file.

Location: Broadway Avenue
Female reports that trespassers were threatening her. Landlord wants an officer to call him about the incident. Officers spoke to the complainant who stated that a female who was there earlier came back an hour ago before this call was received and threatened her saying someone is going to beat you up. The complainant stated that she just wants this incident documented.

Location: Carlyle Road
Caller states the repo company damaged her property removing her daughter’s car. A repo company removed the complainant daughter’s vehicle from the driveway on June 12. The complainant stated when the car was remove, damage was done to the detached garage door. Information documented for the complainant.

Location: Rockside Road (Car Dealership)
Officer spoke to the female who stated an employee recently contacted her in regards to a test drive and purchase that she did not initiate. Two purchases from out of state locations were attempted and denied by her bank with one of her credit cards around the same time as the phone call. Her card has since been cancelled and she was advised about how to better protect her identity.

Location: Eldred Avenue
Male would like to report threatening message sent to his wife’s cell phone. It appears the call came from someone who had received a scam call earlier in the day. The scam caller used the complainant’s phone number to make that call. An officer spoke with the male to advise him the call did not come from our complainant and to not call the number again.

Location: Center Road
The complainant stated she lost her wallet sometime that day. The last time she reported having the wallet was at a local gas station. She realized her wallet was missing when she went to return her mother’s debit card to her. Her mother stated unknown person(s) attempted to use the debit card but were unsuccessful. The complainant stated there were other cards in the wallet that were of no value. An officer went to the gas station to view surveillance videos but employees did not know how to operate the cameras. The complainant has cancelled her cards and did not report any further loss. Information is on file.


Wednesday, July 4 reports

Time: 6:11 p.m.
Code: Harassment
Location: Ennis Avenue
Caller states she has been being harassed for five months by a male she met on a dating website. She states that today he is calling her pretending to be someone else. She also said he goes by Mike, but that this is an alias and she doesn’t know his real name. An officer left a message to not contact her anymore. She was also advised on how to obtain a protection order.

Location: Northfield Road
Caller’s ex-girlfriend took her car after an argument and left approximately 15 minutes ago. Caller is not injured. Incident occurred. Officers spoke with the complainant. She stated she gave the keys to her friend and she drove off. She was advised of the unauthorized use law, and she did not want officers to contact her friend.

Code: Discharging a Firecracker
Location: John Street
Complainant reporting a large fireworks display. Officers responded and observed several large fireworks being discharged from the backyard on John Street. Officers located the homeowner in the backyard cleaning up several mortar-type fireworks that he had just discharged. Male was issued a summons for discharging fireworks.

 


Thursday, July 5 reports

Time: 12:11 a.m.

Location: Turney Road
Caller advised her boyfriend is aggressive with her. Male was physical, smacked caller in face and cut her lip. Squad refused. Male was upset because she came home late. No intoxication and no weapons. Verbal argument between both parties. Neither party wanted to leave. Both were advised of their options.

Location: McKinley Avenue
Caller reporting that her son’s father has locked her out of the house. He’s upset because she is currently evicting him. Her 5-year-old son is inside the residence with his father. Female was able to get the son dressed and is taking him to preschool. Male will be staying home and watching his shows because he does not have to go to work today.

Code: Damage to Vehicle
Location: Taylor Road
Caller advised that when he arrived at the work yard, he found that person(s) unknown spray-painted the side of a dump truck with pink paint. The dump body, exhaust cover/handle, passenger side door and gas tank were painted. Officer photographed the damage and checked nearby business to see if they had any cameras that might have captured a suspect. All cameras will only show the parking in front of the building, not across the street. Officer checked nearby for additional damage, but no damage was found. Information on file should the complainant want to file an insurance claim.

Female reports that during a party she had on July 4th, person(s) unknown took her handgun from her apartment. The female does not know who may have taken her gun. An incident report will be created once the serial number for the gun is obtained.

Time: 6:26 p.m.
Code: Checking on Welfare
Location: Powers Road
Officers were called to the listed address for a welfare check on a family that had been removed from the property approximately one month ago. The residence was posted uninhabitable by the building department for a lack of running water. Two juveniles were located inside the residence. The parents were out at the store. The juveniles were transported to the station. Parents are to be charged with endangering children and trespassing. The children were released to a family friend. Affidavit forms were completed and sent to the Bedford judges. Affidavit forms were signed and returned. Warrant entry forms completed and sent to dispatch. Later in the week, parents were both arrested during a traffic stop.

Location: Center Road
Caller stated she received a counterfeit $50 bill from a lawn place. Customer was very nice and cooperative. Older female stated she believes she got the $50 bill from a mower repair shop but wasn’t certain. Does not appear to have prior knowledge of the counterfeit bill. Placed into property locker.


Friday, July 6 reports

Time: 7:52 a.m.
Code: Breaking and Entering
Location: Broadway Avenue (Oakwood Enrichment School)
Playstation is missing. Items in disarray, but all doors and windows were locked. Officers spoke to the complainant who stated between Thursday and today an unknown person made entry into the daycare and stole a Playstation 4 and two controllers. Also, the male states that the TV mounted on the wall was unplugged and everything in the room was not where it was initially. The male states that all windows and doors were locked and no signs of forced entry was seen. Officers went next door and watched video surveillance of a male entering the business through a window multiple times and leaving with the stolen PS4. Officers will get a flash drive and obtain a copy of the video. DNA sample taken from the entry window.

Location: Rockside Road (Toyota of Bedford)
Female would like to make a report regarding a stolen dealer tag. Customer purchased a vehicle from Toyota of Bedford. Because the customer was having trouble registering the car himself, Toyota of Bedford provided him with a dealer tag. The customer was supposed to return the dealer tag once the vehicle was registered properly. As of the time of this report, the customer had not returned the plate. Customer relations manager does not wish to pursue theft charges, she only wants the plate entered as lost/stolen.

Female is in the lobby reporting her computer was hacked and she paid someone overseas to take care of the problem. The complainant stated that on Thursday, she attempted to log in to her email account but was unable to. She stated she found a number for what she thought was Yahoo and called it. The person on the line stated that her email was being used for child pornography in Kenya and that she would have to pay $150 to have the account cleaned up and reopened. The complainant allowed the party to remotely access her computer to assess the situation. The complainant then wrote a check for $100 and scanned it at the person’s request. Afterward, the complainant realized she had been a victim of a scam and responded to Citizens Bank to stop payment on the check. She also closed the account to prevent any issues. She stated that she also gave her computer to a professional to have it checked. She was given info regarding identity theft and advised to keep her eye on her credit report and any other accounts.

Maple Heights female patient brought in. Center needed assistance in the ER. Maple Heights and UHSBMC police had things under control.

Officer in the lobby with a mother and father regarding child custody. Parents are getting out of control, yelling and screaming. Officer needs assistance. Recreation Department was attempting to deal with an irate couple that was requesting a refund. Couple was advised to speak with supervisor if they had a complaint.

Location: Broadway Avenue
The caller stated a customer became upset regarding the work performed to his vehicle. Before the customer left, he made threats to harm the caller. An officer was unable to make contact with the customer. No further police action at this time.

Time: 10:54 p.m.
Code: Assault – Squad Call
Location: Northfield Road (Near Bedford Veterinary Hospital)
Assault against a female. Male running down the street towards Forbes Road. Male foaming at the mouth and appears to be approximately 35 years old. Female is standing in front of Timko Tavern. Male punched the female in the face. Female caught male going through her vehicle. Caller is with suspect at Williams/Northfield. Caller is out with another male that knows who this male is. Other subjects are trying to put male in a vehicle. Per the caller, female is still in the bar. Officers spoke with a male who is a care coordinator at a nearby group home.  The male suspect is a developmentally disabled adult with a long list of health problems. The male had an episode and got away from staff at the house. No charges will be filed against the male. He was checked by EMTs and taken back to the group home.


Saturday, July 7 reports

Officers arrived on scene and spoke with the complainant who said her friend has the vehicle and she does not need any further police action at this time.

Time: 3:45 p.m.
Code: Assault
Location: Broadway (Near Ganley Chrysler Dodge Jeep)
Male juvenile wearing a green shirt and black swim trunks carrying a baseball bat assaulted the caller and is still walking down the roadway. The boy is from the Safely Home and the caller needs assistance catching him. She stated she is hurt but declined a squad. Juvenile has a history of running away and suffering from a bi-polar disorder. The out-of-control boy is a 10-year-old client that left the property with a baseball bat. The complainant followed him all the way to Auto Zone and attempted to stop him. He allegedly struck her with the baseball bat several times in the knee. Both were taken back to the home and the matter will be handled internally. The boy claims he was physically and sexually abused by the staff at the home in the past. He also made suicidal statements. Both issues were reported to the home’s upper level management.

Caller states her gun was stolen from her house sometime between yesterday and today. Gun is a 9mm, blue-turquoise, unknown make/model or serial number. A spare magazine and gun lock were also taken. The firearm was last seen Thursday in the evening. She states she noticed it missing today because she went to move some things around and noticed the box was empty. The lower receiver is a sky-blue color and the upper receiver is black. The complainant completed a statement and a stolen firearm addendum. The complainant did not know the serial number of the firearm.

Caller reports a group of people fighting outside in the street. Officers spoke to several people at the residence who were there for a graduation party. Several females got into an altercation in the yard and a few people left prior to officers arrival. The homeowner was advised of disturbing the peace and the consequences of officers having to return.

 

Sunday, July 8 reports

Time: 1:42 a.m.
Code: Family Trouble
Location: Center Road
Caller states her 32-year-old daughter is driving her car all over the yard, harassing the family. No one can get her under control. Caller advises the suspect doesn’t usually do drugs, however she has been drinking. Unknown how much.  She just went to the apartments across the street next to the Big and Little store. Her boyfriend is with her. In a second call, complainant says woman is on drugs. Got bad drugs. Very violent caller advised her niece is going crazy, driving a car over the lawns. Female took off in a white vehicle. Officers out with a female at Circle K. Checks OK — not the female involved. Female left prior to officers arrival.

Officers spoke to the female who stated that her husband/boss is working for the federal government and that he and the business he works for is watching her through her computer and also implanted a GPS into her vehicle. Also, she states that she saw a white van drive by her residence and she believes that the vehicle is spying on her. She also states that she thinks there are multiple other ways the suspected person(s) are spying on her and it is making her feel uncomfortable. The female states that there is a chip in her windshield and she believes that the people who are spying on her did it to her vehicle. Officers advised the female on her options and how she could possibly handle the situation.

Monday, July 9 reports

Location: Blaine Avenue (UH Bedford Medical Center)
Male in ER Room 2 with stab wound. Unsure where it happened and won’t give anyone much info. He would like officers to come and speak with him. He said the incident happened in Brookpark. Brookpark Police were notified.

Time: 3:21 p.m.
Code: Harassing Communication
Location: Pinecrest Drive
The complainant states that his ex-wife keeps emailing him about their recent divorce. The emails are not threatening and the male wants information on how to stop her from contacting him. The male was advised on how to obtain a CPO.

Time: 7:44 p.m.
Code: Unauthorized Use
Location: Henry Street
Caller advised her neighbor requested her to call the police department for him for unauthorized use. The neighbor, who is unable to speak, let a friend borrow a vehicle which has not been returned. Officers communicated with the complainant. He was advised of the unauthorized use ordinance and to call the police department if the vehicle was returned to him before the 48-hour period, or if he still did not have the vehicle after that time.
