Tuesday, September 4 reports

Time: 6:12 a.m.
Code: Criminal Damage
Location: Broadway Avenue (Oakwood Enrichment School)
Caller arrived to work and found daycare ransacked. No sign of forced entry. Sometime overnight person(s) unknown gained access to the business by means of either an open window or door and attempted to take the TV off the wall. The TV was not taken and nothing else appeared to be tampered with.

Location: Lincoln Boulevard
Criminal damage to vehicle. Suspect not on scene. All four tires were slashed. Sometime overnight the victim’s tires on her car were slashed. The victim believes that her husband was the one that did it because he was mad that she did not come home. There is no evidence that the husband caused the damage, and he denied any involvement. The female was advised that the vehicle is considered shared property and she would not be able to pursue any criminal charges against him. There are no other suspects and no cameras in the area.

The complainant stated he contacted a loan company to borrow money for his mortgage in early August. He stated now his account is minus $747. He believes the company has defrauded him. He was unable to explain how he was defrauded and continued to say they just made his account negative. He was given a report number to give to his bank. No further police action.

Caller came into the police department lobby wanting to make a threats report. The complainant was advised that the text messages would not be considered threats. The texts are from her son-in-law, and he carefully words them so not to make a direct physical threat. The complainant was given some options and was advised that a lot of issues were considered a civil matter.

Report of theft of salt spreader off vehicle. Meet caller at Harrison Street. That’s where his cameras are that have the incident on them.

Code: Breaking and Entering
Location: Grand Boulevard
Caller is from the bank. Wants to report the sink missing from the house. Representatives for the owner report sometime in the past couple months, person(s) unknown gained access to the vacant property and took the sink from the laundry room.

Location: Darlington Road
The complainant reported that on Sunday around 2 a.m., she awoke to the sound of glass breaking in her house. She ran to front of the house and found her front window broken out, with glass in the living room. She observed the suspect’s vehicle, a gray GMC heading northbound on Darlington Road. The complainant went to the suspect’s address and was subsequently arrested. The damaged vehicle was impounded by Maple Heights Police Department. A statement form was left for the complainant to complete and return. Any follow up is pending return of the complainant’s written statement.

Location: Grand Park Circle
Caller thinks 14-year-old foster child is going to her hurt herself. Juvenile is holding a knife in her hands. Juvenile is outside on the steps. She has a history of hurting herself and has been in the hospital for it. Juvenile is still holding the knife and sitting on the ground on Bexley Drive. The knife is in her right hand. Caller advised a social worker is on scene. Also, female has not injured herself yet but is still holding the knife. Caller confirmed that officer was on scene and kicked the knife away. The subject forfeited the knife to officers and was willing to speak with the fire department. She was transported to Bedford Medical Center. Her caretaker was advised not to have knives or any other sharp objects within the home.

Wednesday, September 5 reports

Time: 8:57 a.m.
Code: Stolen Vehicle
Location: Grace Street (Kiddie Kampus)
Officers spoke to the complainant who stated person(s) unknown stole her white Ford. Also, she states that this is the second time that this has happened and the last time they broke the back window of the van to gain entry. While investigating the scene, officers noticed broken glass in the parking spot where the van was last parked. The female also states that there was a power buffer inside the van when it was stolen. However, the make, model and serial number from it is unknown. Addendum was signed and vehicle will be entered into leads.

Caller states she is having an issue with her neighbor stealing her UPS packages. She thinks it’s the female neighbor’s son who is in his 20s. Officers spoke to the complainant who stated that her package that came in the mail this morning was delivered to her neighbor’s house and she believes her neighbor accepted/has the package. The complainant stated that this is a recurring problem with items being delivered to her neighbor, and that she just wants her stuff back. Officers spoke to the neighbor who stated that she does have her package, but she took it because she states that an unknown male came to the residence and tried to take it. The female stated that she was not stealing it, but she was just “holding it for her,” but she will no longer hold her packages. The complainants’ packages were returned to her and she stated that she would like no further police action at this time; she is just happy that she received her items. Officers advised the female to call the mail company in the future and try to clear up the delivery confusion.


Thursday, September 6 reports

Location: Northfield Road
Caller advises a male was just robbed at gunpoint in front of his house. The suspect fled in a black car north on Northfield Road. The victim went back to his house on Forbes Road. The caller can point the car out. The suspect threw the gun down in the caller’s driveway. Caller is waiting outside for police. Heavy tint on the vehicle with possibly one or more occupants. Victim was pushed out or jumped out while it was moving. Recovered gun. Attempt to contact victim’s cell phone. Got voicemail. Officers on a stop with a possible suspect vehicle.

Location: Broadway Avenue
Officers spoke to the complainant who stated her landlord has a spare key to her residence and believes someone has unlawfully entered her apartment and taken items while she is away. She is missing a necklace, her birth certificate, and other important documents. The complainant threatened to sue the landlord for breaking the conditions of the lease (additional keys) and the following day, her copy of the lease came up missing and the bag it was in was disheveled. She believes the landlord’s brothers have access to the keys for her door and may have entered and taken the paperwork. She was advised of the criminal history of the males that live next door and was advised to seek new living arrangements. She was also advised to put additional locks on her doors until she can resolve the current issue with the landlord. Officers spoke with the landlord who lives out of state and claims the tenant has the only key to the residence. She stated she has several text messages from her tenant about an ongoing issue with appliances, which is why she believes she is making this report now. She believes these claims are due to the fact that she is planning to evict the tenant. Officers are unable to substantiate any facts from either the landlord or the tenant. They were both advised to seek legal assistance in civil court about their situation.

Location: Ellenwood Avenue
Officers spoke with the complainant in the lobby who believes his protection order has been violated. Officers reviewed the messages from Facebook of a female who is known to associate with the male who violated the protection order. Officers advised the complainant that it appears this female is just familiar with the situation and is expressing her displeasure via Facebook messages. The messages do not contain any direct threats, only vague statements about child protective services and having “family in law enforcement.” Officers advised the complainant that the photos of the messages would be added to the incident.


Friday, September 7 reports

Male is in the lobby. He and his wife have been arguing lately and male then received a threatening phone call from a male saying he was going to take the male away. This happened on Wednesday. The complainant wanted the incident documented just in case he continues to receive the calls or it escalates into something worse. The complainant did not recognize the male’s voice and the phone number he called from was unavailable.

Friday, September 7 reports

Code: Cocaine – Possession of Drugs
Location: Northfield Road and Forbes Road
Traffic stop was initiated on the listed vehicle for an expired registration. A Walton hills K9 officer arrived on scene and the dog positively alerted to the presence of narcotics inside the vehicle. A probable cause search was conducted. A glass crack pipe was located in a cigarette pack in the center console cup holder, which was later claimed by the driver. A small quantity of suspected crack cocaine was located in the shirt pocket of the passenger. Driver was issued a summons for possession of drug abuse paraphernalia and passenger was issued a summons for possession of a controlled substance. Both were released on scene.

Sunday, September 9 reports

Code: Having Weapon Under Disability
Location: Willard Avenue
A traffic stop was initiated on the listed vehicle for an illegal U-turn, lane violations, and slow speed. A probable cause search of the vehicle was conducted on the odor of marijuana. A loaded .40 caliber handgun was located under the driver’s seat with a round in the chamber and full 14-round magazine. Also, $14,020 in U.S. currency, suspected marijuana, and an unknown crushed up pill (suspected MDMA/ecstasy) were located in the vehicle, along with other items of the narcotics trade. The driver was arrested and returned to the Bedford Jail. The vehicle was towed and a hold was placed.

Caller reported his son’s cellular phone stolen yesterday from the Bedford High School football locker room. The phone is pinging to Elmwood Avenue. The phone’s owner is from Garfield Heights. The phone was found in Garfield. Report no longer needed.

Location: Deborah Lane
Caller reporting that someone broke into her shed in her yard. There was nothing in there but the door is damaged. Person(s) unknown broke the lock on the door to the shed in the backyard. Nothing was taken.

Code: Family Trouble
Location: Justin Street
Caller came home and wife threw all his belongings on the lawn. Caller will be waiting outside wearing grey sweats and black shirt. Officers responded to the listed address. The male complainant stated that when he arrived home his belongings were out on the front step and his wife did not want him in the home. His wife was advised of the eviction process and was OK with her husband staying in the home. The male was advised of his warrant and that his wife did not want to communicate with him for the time being.

Caller reporting that her stepmother was at the apartment and was pushing on her but has left now. She left three minutes ago in an unknown direction of travel. Caller stated that her stepmother is schizophrenic. She stated that she was going to get someone else to move her belongings for her. There was no alcohol and no weapons. A family argument turned into a mutual physical altercation. All parties on scene just finished packing their belongings and were given options with future dealings with the other family member.

Husband’s daughter walked up and tried to fight the female. Then the husband threw the female in the bathroom. The daughter then hit her in the face. Female declines squad. There are no weapons  and no intoxication. Husband and the son were smoking marijuana and the daughter was the one that started the problem. She is not on anything. Caller was in the process of moving out of the apartment. The fight was caused by a dispute about who has what furniture.


Monday, September 10 reports

Location: Washington Street
Officers were dispatched to the area for a call of a black Great Dane running at large. Officers found the dog behind a home being fed by the homeowner. They stated the dog frequently comes to their house for food. The dog appeared emaciated and was foaming at the mouth. Officers attempted to restrain the dog but it ran home. The owner was cited for dog at large. Office will be calling Animal Protective League to initiate a wellness case for the animals in the home.


Tuesday, September 11 reports

Location: Washington Street (Central School)
An irate parent called the school and stated that she is on her way up to collect her daughter who was being “held hostage.” She was upset that her child’s bus schedule could not be changed today. Mother and principal worked it out while officers were on scene. Mother will go home and wait for child to get off the bus.

Code: Burglary
Location: Turney Road
Male woke up to see a another male taking the screen out of the living room window. This happened about 20 to 30 minutes ago. Suspect ran up Turney towards Rockside Road. He didn’t gain entry. Officer spoke with complainant who stated a male with a hoodie pulled over his head removed the screen from his window and ran away with it. The screen was located near the carport in an opposite direction from where the male was seen going. While searching the area, the officer spoke with a female who stated she saw the male going south in the parking lot. It is unknown how the female was in the area to see the male. Complainant was advised to call the police as soon as he sees anything unusual in the area. No other information to go on. Area searched.

Resident reported solicitors in the area. Officers located three people soliciting for Direct Energy in the area. The supervisor was located on the porch of a Gould Avenue home. The supervisor was cited for soliciting without a permit.

Female is receiving threats from her ex-husband’s girlfriend. This has been an ongoing issue for two years. An officer spoke to the complainant. She stated that the party is making comments on social media that are untrue. The complainant was given several options on how to deal with the issues effectively. Information will be on file and the complainant will contact the department if any additional identifying information can be obtained on the party she is having an issue with.

Wednesday, September 12 reports

Location: Ellenwood Avenue
Caller wishes to speak with officers in reference to threats he received from a man earlier this morning. The threats were verbal only. The complainant reports that around 6:30 a.m. he was driving on Ellenwood near Center Road and heard someone yell at him. He claims that a male he has a protection order against was yelling at him that he was going to kill him. There were no witnesses to the incident. Officers spoke to the other party involved and he denied saying anything to the complainant. Info will be forwarded to the prosecutor for a ruling. The complainant also reports that on Sunday night, person(s) unknown broke the handle off of the driver door to his vehicle.


Thursday, September 13 reports

Employee advised a customer came into the business and advised he is being followed and threatened. Complainant states he doesn’t wish to see police. Male that was following him was in a gray Dodge with 30-day tags. He left the area. Complainant is leaving. No further police action.

The caller stated that he went to McDonald’s in Cleveland with a female yesterday. While he was in the bathroom at McDonalds, the female took his vehicle. The male last spoke with the female yesterday, in which she told him she would give him his car back this morning but failed to do so. The male was advised to come to the station Saturday to file a unauthorized use report.

Transport juvenile and father fighting. Juvenile appears to be about 12-years-old. Father has the juvenile on the ground. Juvenile is still swinging at Dad. No weapons seen. Father is on the ground and young male is hitting the father who is bleeding. Caller advised officers arrived. Dad is holding the juvenile down. Officer states that an elderly male was being assaulted by a younger male. Elderly male was bleeding from the head. Squad requested to check on victim’s injuries. One in custody. Transporting one juvenile to the station.

Caller advised a tow truck dropped a vehicle off for service. The vehicle rolled into another car causing damage. Caller is requesting a report. Parties involved wanted it documented for insurance and repairs.

Friday, September 14 reports

Location: Eldred Avenue
Caller states the her outside bench was stolen and a mirror was also taken while they were moving into the house. Officers spoke to the caller who stated that person(s) unknown stole a tan plastic bench, a nozzle for a garden hose and a mirror that was purchased with the house. The caller states that the bench was approximately $150 and the nozzle was $80. The caller states that there was no forced entry into the house. They suspect that the items were stolen while they were moving in. Caller wants a report kept on file just in case.

Saturday, September 15 reports

Male wishes to report his Hyundai was stolen from the driveway overnight. Unable to locate the vehicle as a repo. Incident occurred in Cleveland. He was advised to make the report with the Cleveland Police Department.

Location: Corkhill Road
The complainant saw a male peeking in his bedroom window several times and then saw him near his patio door. The complainant confronted the suspect and he ran west toward Lee Road South. The suspect was described as 25 to 30 years old. Same male was seen peeking into cars at Turney Road as well as peeking into a bedroom window also on Corkhill.

Caller wants to report Pontiac stolen. Officers spoke to the female who stated that she let a female borrow her vehicle possibly two weeks ago. She said she let the female borrow the vehicle “just because” and she has not brought it back yet. Also, the caller states that she does not know the female’s number; she only knows her name. The caller could not give anymore info on the suspected female other then that she possibly lives in Cleveland. The female was advised of the 48-hour unauthorized use period, and to attempt to get more information on the suspected female.

Location: W. Grace Street
Moving truck knocked down a power line. No arcing or sparking. Unsure if it’s a power line or phone line. Wire is on the ground. It is located on the tree lawn. After contact with ATT, it is determined it is a phone line. They will need to come out and service it. Police Department needed for property damage since a vehicle was struck by the wire when it fell. Wire is still attached, but low to ground between two wires,


Sunday, September 16 reports

Location: Rockside Road (Jay Pontiac/Buick)
While on patrol, officers were notified by a random commuter that there was a new truck that was on blocks. Officers responded and found a 2018 GMC Canyon with the wheels taken off and on cinder blocks. Pictures were taken of the vehicle and officers will follow up with management. There were no other vehicles in the parking lot that seemed to be tampered with.

Caller has video of customer stealing and would like to speak to officer. Officers spoke to the caller who stated a 15-year-old came into the store and stole a $20 blue bicycle bell. The store owner made contact with the juvenile’s mother and the parents came to the store and paid for the bell. The store owner stated that he just wanted the bell back. A sincere apology from the juvenile was given and the situation reported.

Caller states his ex-girlfriend stole his laptop this morning and admitted to it on Facebook. No guns or weapons in home. Caller stated female threw a patio table at him earlier. Ambulance declined. Officers spoke with the complainant who stated that he wanted his laptop back. After getting a description of the laptop, officers spoke with the female who stated the laptop was not with her. The complainant was advised to not contact the female and to take things up in court as this was a civil matter.

Location: Center Road
Caller would like to speak with an officer in regards to a custody dispute. Officers spoke with the female complainant who was caring for her ex-girlfriend’s child. The child’s mother picked the juvenile from school on Friday and the complainant has not heard from either the child or the child’s mother. At this time, she is not concerned for the health of the child, but noted that child protective services has been called before, and they have open cases for the child and mother. The complainant has filed for sole custody with the county but the next hearing is several weeks away. The complainant was advised to contact the court and CPS for information on the hearing. She did not have any updated information for the child’s mother but stated she will check with the schools to see if he shows up.

Monday, September 17 reports

Time: 8:17 a.m.

Location: Broadway Avenue
A men’s blue and black mountain bike was taken from the Bedford Commons. The bike was left unlocked. The bike was taken on Sunday around 11 a.m. Male stated that he parked his bike at the Bedford Public Square and then walked around. The male has no suspect information or serial number associated with this bike at the time of the report.

Location: Northfield Road (Bedford High School)
The complainant brought her 17-year-old daughter to the station to report an assault that occurred at school. The juvenile stated a male student asked to play a game on her cell phone during class, which she said no. The male then took her phone and bank card that was in her phone. When she got the phone back, the male student grabbed the juvenile’s neck with his hand. He then placed his arms around her neck. There were no visible marks on her neck. The mother wanted the incident documented.

Location: Ellenwood Avenue
Caller said the person he has a protection order against is harassing him. He said he is hanging out the window of the house, giving him the finger and smacking the glass when caller goes outside. He was referred to the prosecutor about today’s incident.

Location: Northfield Road
An officer spoke with the complainant in the lobby. She stated that she recently obtained a copy of her credit report and found numerous bits of information that did not belong to her. She was advised to contact the credit bureaus and file a dispute with them in order to get the information removed. She was also advised to obtain a copy of the report for her personal records.
